Complex Trauma and PTSD

Trauma is not just an event that happens to you, it is the imprint that experience leaves on your nervous system, your sense of self, and how you navigate the world. While traditional PTSD is often associated with a single, acute event, Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) typically stems from prolonged, repeated experiences where escape is difficult or impossible.

Ways Complex PTSD and Trauma Show Up
  • Emotional Regulation Challenges: Difficulty managing intense feelings or feeling perpetually "numb."

  • A Shifted Sense of Self: Persistent feelings of worthlessness, shame, or guilt that don't seem to have a clear origin.

  • Relational Barriers: Struggles with trust, intimacy, or setting boundaries due to a need for safety that was historically undermined.

  • Hypervigilance: A nervous system that stays "on alert," making it difficult to rest or feel truly at ease, even when you are safe in the present.

Healing is Possible...

Trauma shapes the brain, but it does not define your future. Healing is not about "forgetting" or simply moving on; it is about reconnecting—with yourself, with your body, and with the present moment. By creating a foundation of safety and fostering self-compassion, we can help the nervous system learn that the dangers of the past are no longer present.

What does Treatment for C-PTSD look like?

Healing from Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) requires more than traditional talk therapy because trauma is often stored in the body and the non-verbal centers of the brain. We utilize a combination of evidence-based modalities to help you process these stored experiences and build a more resilient nervous system. These modalities consist of HeartMath(Heart Rate Variability Training, Brainspotting, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensization and Reprocessing).
